M-TAC Shoulder Protection with Ballistic Panels 1A for CUIRASS QRS Multicam
You never know where an enemy bullet or shrapnel might come from, so it's essential to take maximum precautions for your safety in advance. The M-Tac brand has developed shoulder protection with 1A ballistic panels for M-Tac Cuirass QRS plate carriers, significantly increasing the body protection area for the fighter. The product is a compact shoulder module that provides fragmentation protection for the bicep, shoulder joint, and arteries.
It is recommended to attach this protection element to the M-Tac gorget with 1A ballistic panels for Cuirass QRS or to the shoulder platform of the M-Tac Cuirass QRS plate carrier. The shoulder protection attaches to the shoulder part of the plate carrier using velcro straps. A plastic frame with a D-ring lock serves as a connecting element and helps remove the shoulder system if necessary. Special attention was given to the anatomical shape of the product during the design of the shoulder protection. The module is constructed so that the attachment height to the plate carrier is adjustable thanks to a vertical strap with velcro. The shoulder protection also adjusts to the arm's volume and is secured with a special horizontal strap.
Significant efforts by the designers were aimed at maintaining the fighter's maneuverability when using shoulder ballistic protection. This design does not interfere with other gear elements and provides sufficient freedom of movement.
The shoulder pads are made of 500D Cordura and are equipped with ballistic panels that protect against ricochets and fragments. The ballistic panels are made of ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene and meet STANAG 2920 with a fragmentation resistance V-50 rating of approximately 580 m/s.
For comparison, in terms of bullet resistance, a ballistic panel with a similar composition corresponds to class 1a (9x18 APS) according to DSTU 4103-2002 and class 1 (9x18 APS, 9x19 Luger) according to the new DSTU 8782:2018. (Class 1a, class 1 refers to the equivalent composition tested on standard samples of 400x400 mm. Therefore, on smaller-sized and shaped samples, the behind-armor blunt trauma may differ).
