You never know where an enemy bullet or shrapnel might come from, so it's worth taking maximum care of your safety in advance. The M-Tac brand has developed shoulder protection with 1A ballistic panels for M-Tac plate carriers model Cuirass QRS, which significantly increases the body protection area of the fighter. The product is a compact shoulder module that provides shrapnel protection for the biceps, shoulder joint, and arteries.

It is recommended to attach this protective element to the M-Tac gorget with 1A ballistic panels for the Cuirass QRS or to the M-Tac shoulder platform of the Cuirass QRS plate carrier. The shoulder protection is attached to the shoulder part of the plate carrier using Velcro straps. A plastic frame with a D-ring lock serves as a connecting element and helps to remove the shoulder system if necessary. Special attention was paid to the anatomical shape of the product during the development of the shoulder protection. The module is designed so that the height of attachment to the plate carrier is adjustable thanks to a vertical strap with Velcro. The shoulder protection is also adjustable in arm volume and is fixed with a special horizontal strap.

Significant efforts were made by the designers to maintain the maneuverability of the fighter when using shoulder ballistic protection. This design does not conflict with other equipment elements and provides sufficient freedom of movement.

The shoulder pads are made of Cordura 500D and are equipped with ballistic panels that protect against ricochets and shrapnel. The ballistic panels are made of ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene and meet STANAG 2920 with a V-50 shrapnel resistance rating of about 580 m/s.

To understand the analogy with bullet resistance, a ballistic panel with a similar composition corresponds to class 1a (9x18 APS) according to DSTU 4103-2002 and class 1 (9x18 APS, 9x19 Luger) according to the new DSTU 8782:2018 (Class 1a, 1 is understood as the equivalent composition tested on standard samples of 400x400 mm. Therefore, on smaller samples and different shapes, the behind-armor trauma may differ).
