SKU: 00778
The book consists of two parts.
Foreword
The Field Manual serves as the primary conceptual guide for the tasks, personnel, organization, equipment, training, combat skills, and employment of Special Operations Forces (SOF) snipers. It describes the aspects of sniping unique to SOF personnel and the sections of traditional sniping necessary for training indigenous forces. It is intended for use by commanders, staffs, instructors, and soldiers in training units, schools of the U.S. Army Infantry, and in combat units.
Field Manual FM 3-05.222 (formerly TC 31-32) is intended for three different audiences:
- Commanders. The manual provides specific guidance on the nature, role, selection of candidates, organization, and employment of snipers.
- Instructors. The manual serves as the basis for developing training programs.
- Snipers. The manual provides detailed information on the fundamental knowledge, skills, and methods of employing snipers across the spectrum of armed conflicts.
The most commonly used system of measurements by snipers in this text is the standard English-American system instead of the metric system. Conversion tables for units of measurement from one system to another, which can be used in combat conditions or when the situation changes, are provided in
Appendix A.
